This project was shortlisted for the national heritage awards 2021 in the category of best newcomers.
The Ballybay Heritage Group decided on the theme of “Then and Now” to showcase the streetscape of Ballybay and explore how much it has changed over the last century or so. We did this by collecting some amazing old photographs of some of the town’s most iconic buildings and recreating the photography in the modern townscape of Ballybay in order to see how much the surroundings have changed through time. We also researched the history of buildings, unearthing old stories and collecting local people’s memories of these places.
This research was displayed through an exhibition that run in different venues across town for the months of August and September 2021.
